FAQ

Who should attend the Venice Shootout?

This is perfect for the photographer that is looking to build their portfolio and learn new shooting techniques. This is for photographers who already have a firm grasp on using their camera in manual mode and want to learn shooting techniques that some of the leading senior photographers are currently using.

Is there a mileage restriction?

Yes - you may not attend the shootout if you live or operate your business within 100 miles of Santa Clarita, CA and cannot market to clients within this radius for 12 months from the date of the shootout.

How can I use the images?

You are free to use the images in your portfolio and to post to social media. You may not use the images to submit for image competitions, blog submissions or print publication.

What happens if I can't Attend But Bought a seat?

There are no refunds on seats. If you cannot attend, you are able to transfer your seat to another photographer, but we will not sell your seat for you. The individual must meet the mileage restriction requirement and you must notify us of the transfer prior to the shootout.

What happens if it rains?

We will be shooting rain or shine! It is Southern California, so we're expecting sun, so there's little need to worry about this.

Do I need a rental car?

You don't necessarily need a rental car, but you may find that it is easier to get around with one. Depending on where you are staying, you can also utilize rideshare services such as Lyft/Uber.

Where should I fly into?

You can either fly into Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) or Burbank (BUR) depending on where you are staying in Los Angeles. LAX will be closer to where we are shooting in Venice Beach.

What Should I bring?

Please bring your camera, lenses, memory cards, reflectors and anything else that you normally bring to a shoot! We will be moving around a bit, so it's best to try and travel light. We highly recommend wearing comfortable shoes and clothing. The last segment of the shoot-out will be near the water so you may want to pack a change of clothes! Keep in mind you should have a general knowledge of your gear. This is not a shoot for the very beginning photographer as we will NOT be going over F-stops, shutter shutter speeds, camera gear, and how your gear works. We will, of course, tell you what are settings are set at, how we would shoot it, etc..
